D/L: KC’s Z-Sonic Featured On “Moombahdeep Vol. 2″

Locally-based DJ, vinyl enthusiast, MC and producer, Z-Sonic, recently saw one of his latest moombahton songs, “I Need You Close”, catch a tracklist slot on the Ginger Shinobi-presented, Moombahdeep Vol. 2. If you remember, Z-Sonic also grabbed some light from one of his tracks featured on Moombahdeep Vol. 1 as well (RIGHT HERE). As any budding (no pun intended) producer should, his own original productions keep improving. The seven-minute deep “I Need You Close” offers a glimpse to what we hope should be some increasingly gleaming tracks from him in the coming weeks, months and beyond.

Those who enjoy the music of LTJ Bukem and/or Burial will definitely enjoy this latest tune from one of Think 2Wice‘s latest recruits, Andrew Sinclair. We don’t know a vast amount about Sinclair, but he has recently landed DJ gigs with the likes of Brent Tactic and other Think 2Wice affiliates, which is always a good look because after all, he who turns down DJ gigs in Westport is much like a hitter who passes at a hanging curveball. Be on the lookout for more from Andrew Sinclair and keep tabs on his soundcloud.

Between Hy-Tekk Productions, Lotus Camp, Think 2Wice and the independent drawing power of KC house music legend, Pat Nice, we’ve got three super solid options for you to break a leg to this Saturday in Westport. The Union, Gusto Lounge and the Riot Room are partaking in what might as well be a mini club crawl, though we’re not sure if all parties intended for it. Take your sweat with you from bar to bar (they’re all within ~~walking~~ dancing distance of each other).

Checking in on his soundcloud occasionally, we haven’t heard much of anything new from Chrissy Murderbot for quite a while, but this most recent batch of flammable remixes from him kind of came out of nowhere as a pleasant surprise. The KC-native, Chi-Town-living DJ and producer has a small bundle of remixes he cooked up for heralded bass music icon, Machinedrum.

Moombahton Massive w/ Nadastrom @ Granada [5.25.12]

Roll up in your bass-ship and don’t forget your bass face at The Granada in Lawrence, KS on May 25th for what will be the wildest event showcasing the molten dance genre known as moombahton in our area in 2012. Dave Nada and Matt Nordstrom, together known as Nadastrom, didn’t invent the shit (er, maybe one of them did), but arrive assured that moombahton music will be in good hands with them. Not to mention Sabo, who already smashed Luna last summer, will be rocking the newly remodeled theater as well, in addition to KC guys, Brent Tactic, DJ B-Stee and DJ Archi. A party like this at The Union in Westport would probably kick the snot out of any dancing options you have planned for any weekend in KC, but with Moombahton Massive cracking off in quite a bigger room such as The Granada out in Lawrence, this should be a great event if you’re into DJs and new dance music sounds.

With Brent Tactic being out of town at SXSW (jealous), LC is filling in for him alongside Shaun Duval tonight at Gusto Lounge in Westport KCMO. LC typically messes with mostly house music, whereas Tactic is usually all over the place regarding genres. But LC will be a dope addition to the event. This should be your spot if you’re wanting to dance tonight and hear some riotous booty shaking music in Westport.

Z-Sonic‘s latest moombahton spice-up comes courtesy of the Henrick Schwarz remix of “Feeling You” by Omar. We can dig this, and Sonic’s more funky, less acidic tracks as of late in general. With Westport hosting Gusto Lounge, The Union and Riot Room (all dance-friendly venues) among others, I’m super anxious for summer to arrive as I just stepped back to my desk from a windy, chilly cigarette break. Until the warmth sustains, check for Z-Sonic every other Tuesday at the Newsroom in Midtown for “Downlow”, February 17th at Record Bar with the Phantastics and March 16th at the Uptown Theater for a New Humanity show wherein Sonic will be tagging with NMEZEE.
