KC Psych Fest Is No More, Insert “Outer Reaches Fest” @ recordBar 9/30/16

Haymaker Records, Dedric Moore and Steve Tulipana in conjunction with the recordBar (1520 Grand Avenue, KCMO), have replaced their seasoned psychedelic music festival, KC Psych Fest, with a new name. “Outer Reaches Fest” will take place on Friday, September 30th and Saturday, October 1st at that aforementioned, brand new recordBar location in Kansas City’s downtown/crossroads buffer zone area (for lack of a better term). The addition of a new street car might not bring psychedelic music lovers all the way down from Iowa, but at least you could pin-point your street car tourist route with something specifically cool at that weekend border of September and October 2016. Truth be told, this year’s Outer Reaches Fest will include more than just psychedelic music acts.

Based on Haymaker’s steady stream of music releases over recent years (Be/Non, Jorge Arana Trio & more), and Tulipana’s rep for having the best music venue in the city over the span of several years, the new-name, new-location festival “Outer Reaches” should pit enough bright lights and weird band music together to make for yet another trippy weekend experience that unfortunately only happens on an annual basis. This will be, and has been, one of the best locally-thrown mini-festivals that has popped up around Kansas City’s music scene over recent years.
