When I came home last night and settled down, I got in the right frame of mind again and decided to do a drawing. I pretty much grabbed the first thing I saw sitting on my dining room table and went in with a sharpie. This is photo-referenced, just like most of my drawings are, derived from a character who appeared on the cover of URB magazine in January 2004. I believe it’s Prefuse 73. I did this with pencil, sharpie and pen.
Low and behold, Stik and Ron Ron are still cracking away at this Wiz Kids project, which we interviewed them about for a cover story in Demencha back in the summer/fall of 2009. If I could toot my own horn for a brief second, I’d like to think that that cover story kind of introduced a lot of people to Ron Ron who might not have necessarily been aware of his music before then. It’s been a long time since we’ve recieved some super exclusive stuff from any local rap guys, but when I got the phone call about this track earlier this afternoon I almost choked on my rum and coke. Here, Stik and Ron Ron made a back-to-school anthem of sorts. I’m almost 100% sure this is a Greg Enemy beat. DL for free and LISTEN…

I recently came across a disco house production group called Swivel Hips, while searching for new music on the web a couple of weeks ago. They’ve been cosigned by the likes of Armand Van Helden, MSTRKRFT and Louis La Roche among others, and have been making some noise over the past year or so. I really, really dig this style of house.
