Medusa has been referred to as the Godmother of LA’s hip hop circuit, and apparently going on after her is not recommended (which is why she’s headlining, we’re guessing). The Magic Heart Genies will make an appearance (consisting of Myka 9, J The Sarge and DJ Drez), in addition to a live dubstep performance from Dubbal, who I can’t find anything about on google. Regardless, I’ll be at this show just to see if there’s any kind of impromptu freestyling-over-dubstep-beats type thing going down or not (*fingers crossed*). Which reminds me that I really need to get that dubstep vs. hip hop video from the show we put on with Ces Cru and Bassline Pressure back in 2008 up on Vimeo.

Sly Polaroid has been buzzing in the Chi for a minute and he’s got a single out that I think you all should hear. The instrumental, produced by Emmaculate, could be very useful for some of your own mixtapes. Download the zip file including the OG, acapella and instrumental, right here:

Hopefully he’ll tap into these boxes and let us hear some stuff. —-> http://www.eastofgillham.blogspot.com <----
Two of his own tracks, recorded several years ago, ended up on his first post, earlier tonight. “Pass of Arms” is one of those songs you can listen to all day long. TRUST.
He’s done production for KC act, Ces Cru, both on Capture Enemy Soldiers and The Iron Giant, but I suspect he’s got a lot more beats up his sleeve, and maybe other production credits I’m not aware of…

We don’t know much about this guy yet, but we do know that he’s got some really, really tight instrumental beats up on his myspace page. I met him a few nights ago up at James Christos’ recording studio off Troost. Mr. Bounce is looking to network with local hip hop and rap artists. I’m listening to these beats right now on his page and can’t help but think that Smoov Confusion, Approach, Royce Diamond (the group S’ar Lavoe) couldn’t use some of these beats. Three of these tracks, “Rock Music,” “Outer Space” and “On Earth” remind me of Timbaland…straight up. Fuck it – even if you’re not a rapper, you should listen to these tracks and just zone out.
Again – hit up Mr. Bounce at his myspace page where you can hear these tracks for yourself at myspace.com/bigproductionsbig
