Planetary underground funkateer and KC resident, Reggie B, hasn’t dropped a solo album since The Traveler which saw release on Innate Sounds in 2010. But strap in for liftoff in anticipation for his next album, out on October 21st through Tokyo Dawn Records in Germany. Based on some early listens from Tokyo Dawn’s website (where the whole album is available for stream), “DNA” is going to smash your idea of what “local artists” are capable of. Reggie’s vocals sound pretty phenomenal on this record. The beats are some of his heaviest productions to date, not including the help of a few guest producers and live instrumentalists. If you’re into soul, r&b, funk and hip hop, and you’ve never paid much attention to Reggie B’s music before, mark October 21st on your calendars and buy “DNA” through Tokyo Dawn’s site. Even if you have listened to a lot of Reggie B’s music in the past, this one might grab you as his best work yet.
