Perhaps Kansas City’s favorite alternative/latin band, Making Movies, and KC’s Secret Sauce DJ trio have teamed up for what we hope to be at least a couple of new collaborations, one of which was released on Making Movies’ bandcamp page on Friday. You may remember the Red Bull Locally Thrown event at Grinders in the Crossroads earlier this summer wherein Making Movies and Brent Tactic and B-Stee of Secret Sauce meshed their respective, swaying latin styles and moombahton vibes. While I still believe that show would’ve been a lot more enjoyable in a smaller venue for the experimentation factor involved, Making Movies and Secret Sauce are probably proving to be the most enjoyable and productive collaboration that has spawned from that show thusfar. I only took a little bit of Spanish in high school, but I know enough to know that Enrique Chi’s lead vocals on top of some real hip-twisting beats from Secret Sauce speak a language that dance floor’s will understand, regardless.
