On Thursday, October 4th, a handful of KC’s crispiest and craftiest beat makers are going to convene at the Record Bar in Westport KCMO for the “Sucka Free” Producer’s Showcase, hosted by Sephiroth. On hand will be Leonard DStroy, Barbaric Merits, Dan Matic and DRplus2. DStroy just released the ADHD Deep Thinkers remixes, which are amazing, and the wait for his upcoming release with Atlanta’s heRobust continues. The Barbaric Merits duo have a new EP coming out on the KC-based, Snatchy Trax, called “Glak to the Future” and were just featured on the Red Bull Locally Thrown event at Crossroads KC. Dan Matic of The Outer Peoples beat crew has his hand in a gang of projects as well, including his Ancient Aliens duo moniker with rhymer, Coup De La Flux. In the case of DRplus2, crises do precipitate change, as Del put it years ago. Well, we’re not sure if a hard drive crash could be considered a “crisis”, but it’s certainly an unpleasant occurrence that DRplus2 plans on digging himself out of. This event will unfold as a showcase of some of KC’s most budding producers. Plan on hearing some wild shit.
