The Midwest’s own incomparable record breakin’ DJ, DJ Shad, is returning from St. Louis this weekend to knock out a couple of DJ gigs. He has two brand new DJ mixes on soundcloud to accompany his respective gigs. The first one is doused in enough current, high energy rap jams to get the Club Magic crowd in Lawrence, KS more than hype for his gig there tonight. The second one, titled “In My Own World”, is more so directed at the folks hitting Czar Bar tomorrow to get a dose of Shad’s favored hip hop, soul and reggae.
I used the word “incomparable” to describe Shad’s pull and rep in the greater Midwest urban DJ scene to remind you that during his several-year-long tenure in KC’s clubs, Shad was the hardest working DJ in Kansas City, hands down, point blank, period. Now knocking out tons of DJ mixes for FM radio stations coast to coast, continuing to network with up and coming rap artists, and still digging for vinyl in 2012 in addition to keeping an ear to the online exclusives that flood his inbox on the daily, Shad is still gritting. I once wrote something in another area paper that went, “Trust in DJ Shad to sweat out all the problems and troubles of the day.” And in these troubling times, you’ve got a lot to sweat out. Go to Club Magic tonight in Lawrence and/or Czar Bar in Kansas City tomorrow night if you’re looking for a DJ who will remind you what the salt tastes like on your upper lip.
