Commonly (perhaps erroneously?) known for having just two members, Thievery Corporation do not bow down to trends, for their music is globally loved by people from more treks of life than you could shake a walking stick at. If you’ve never seen Thievery play live and you’re under the assumption that it’s going to be “different DJ, same shitty music” or whatever, we suggest you come to the Midland on Wednesday, October 6 where they’ll be rocking with a live band. I had the pleasure of seeing them last summer at the Wakarusa festival in Arkansas, and they all struck me as very seasoned, pro-line musicians.
Their music encompasses an anti-style, and their name derives from their keenness for jacking world sounds, and somehow putting them together to create some of the most powerful music out. We’re not sure if Thievery Corporation have ever performed in KC before, but this show on October 10th will be one for the books, something to write home about, and probably one of the best concerts Kansas City has seen this year out of any mere genre. Bet that.
