The Toy Piano Collective w/ Mark Lowrey & Hermon Mehari @ Czar [08.18.12]

On Saturday, August 18, keyboard king Mark Lowrey, trumpeter Hermon Mehari, MC Sephiroth, producer Leonard DStroy, Pablo Sanhueza and Brian Steever will sprinkle some jazz/hip hop type fused magic on Czar in the Crossroads. We suspect that the meat of this magic will come from the turntables and samplers of DStroy, based off a mind-blowing show he put on with Brandon Draper at the Kansas City Academy back on April 21 that followed in similar free form. But adding the adept craftiness of Sephiroth’s raps, Mehari’s “piercing” trumpet sounds (I know, I use that adjective too much), and the live musicianship from Sanhueza and Steever, we really hope this doesn’t turn out to be yet another event you overlook in favor of dicking off in Westport. Not that dicking off in Westport is a bad thing necessarily, but events in the Crossroads have been a lot of fun as of late, and this show in particular will probably crush any DJ you’ll see in Midtown on that night.
