Sounds of Blackness, Barry White, Raja-Nee, Grand Jury and Lo-Key round out just a handful of names that Kansas City’s Kevin Pierce has collaborated with during his ongoing tenure as one of the more respected guitarists in KC’s funk and r&b scenes. From witnessing the “one man band” producer explosion and record labels’ coinciding fear of signing full bands to now rocking with Reggie B’s family of funk phenomenons – The Solution, Mr. Pierce is now solely dedicated to Reggie B & The Solution. In this interview conducted outside Reggie B’s practice space on Kansas City’s East Side just a couple of weeks ago, Kevin surveyed his own thoughts on dealings with the music industry and how he got to where he’s at. And as with all stories of this nature, there’s bound to be turbulence. But through the good and the bad, Kevin Pierce has 100% confidence in where this Reggie B & The Solution thing can go.
