From The Mouth of the South, heRobust Socks The Trap Trend Right in the Kisser w/ His New EP

That ATL dude, heRobust, is back once again this week with a hotly anticipated free download, a smattering of trap and dubstep infused beats he calls the “Rob & Hood” EP. Considering the vocal samples he chose to wreck over these five, bubbling, bassy tracks, we can’t help but imagine heRobust lamping somewhere in Atlanta with both middle fingers raised in the air to the recent trap music resurgence bastardizations. With vocal snippets from Southern rappers containing quotes like “I was in the trap when you was on MySpace”, “Steal from the rich and bring it back to the hood” and “What you really know about the dirty south?”, we can definitely sense some hinted animosity towards a new/old genre (trap) that is probably best left to Southerners (thanks, Juicy J!). Okay, so maybe we’re embellishing the hate for trap’s new wave. Maybe heRobust is totally cool with it. But we’d like to think that this “Rob & Hood” EP will send a lot of trap-trend-bandwagoners running for the hills. “Still Tippin”? Seriously, Mike Jones told you his name about 60,000,000 times back in 2003.
