I just heard about this show—nay, this rapper—about 30 minutes ago, thanks to PL. It’s tonight at Czar Bar for $15 and 18+ if you’re not drunkass age. The Popper is opening, too.
This dude’s for real. Maybe it’s my Midwest hip-hop upbringing, but I’m a sucker for double-time raps with dark beats and depressing subject matter. However, Atlanta’s Rittz is unquestionably doing it with a Southern flavor so at the same time it doesn’t remind me of that traditional Midwestern recipe. I’d recommend it for people who like Yelawolf (with whom Rittz has just signed) but wish he was a better rapper, or for people who like both UGK and Atmosphere.
I still don’t know if I’m gonna do this or try to get into soldout Childish Gambino tonight at Beaumont, or go to the cheaper Dark Time Sunshine show at recordBar. Not to mention the return of Hip-Hop & Hot Wings at John’s Big Deck and the CG afterparty at Riot Room. Having a bunch of solid hip-hop options tonight is nothing to complain about.
