Chicago Juke & Footwork Youtube Favorites

As EIC, I’ve been geeking over a lot of juke and footwork videos on youtube lately, whether they’re quick documentaries, song streams, or footwork dance showcases. I’ve been seeing well more than a couple of bass music producers and enthusiasts recently coming from more burned out bass sounds to footwork/juke music over the past, mmm…maybe six months, specifically in the KC DJ scene. Even if you got into it after fishing some trendy music blog in Europe, just know that this style is Chicago’s baby. Here are a few recent videos that I hope will open your eyes to an entire culture of dance music that is shamefully slept on, but hopefully soon to blow.

This is probably the rawest video I’ve seen in a while, though it’s a couple of years old. It ain’t your grandfather’s dance party, that’s for damn sure…

…Part 2. Watch for the guy in the baby blue shoes.

Mini documentary. “Chicago’s roots is dance.”

NBA star and Chicago native, Derrick Rose, footworking in a high school gym, “before he was famous”.

Definitely one of my favorite juke tracks.

Footwork music from a UK state of mind.

This one retains a bit more of the ghetto house sentiment.

And finally, those who appreciate mainstream rap and uptempo club music should be able to draw a pulse from this.

MIDDLE OF THE MAP MUSIC.
