Local promoters seem to have a habit of recycling old out-of-town acts that have already been to KC/Lawrence recently. But in this case, it’s cool. edIT from Glitch Mob is coming through in Mid-April, and I’m glad that I’ll have a chance to see the second half of Glitch Mob and take in what they’re doing. Word up to the Barbaric Merits dudes, who are huge fans of Glitch Mob.

We don’t know much about this guy yet, but we do know that he’s got some really, really tight instrumental beats up on his myspace page. I met him a few nights ago up at James Christos’ recording studio off Troost. Mr. Bounce is looking to network with local hip hop and rap artists. I’m listening to these beats right now on his page and can’t help but think that Smoov Confusion, Approach, Royce Diamond (the group S’ar Lavoe) couldn’t use some of these beats. Three of these tracks, “Rock Music,” “Outer Space” and “On Earth” remind me of Timbaland…straight up. Fuck it – even if you’re not a rapper, you should listen to these tracks and just zone out.

Chip Tha Ripper comes with that Cleveland heat with his new single, “Fitted,” which yet again, was sent to us by our great friend DJ Shad who’s playing this song on his weekend radio mixes and in his weekly club gigs at Karma and Zen in KCMO. Chip works with Hi-Tek and Kid Cudi, who he has a project with that should hopefully be out soon. This is the first of two posts I’ll make about two new artists on the come up who are already making some noise. The first one, the one you’re reading about now, is about a local dude out of Wyandotte County who goes by TJ. DJ Fresh cosigned on TJ as an up and coming artist in the latest issue of Demencha Magazine (the winter/spring 2009 issue with DJ Fresh and Pat Nice on the covers). DJ Shad has been playing TJ’s latest single – “Money To Be Made” on his weekend mixes on the radio.
