Norrit (Lawrence) Remixes Royce Diamond’s “Everybody Move” (KC)

A couple of months ago, I came across a local hip hop recording artist by the name of Royce Diamond. On his myspace page, he had a 20 second snippet of a Norrit aka Iggy Baby remix of his song “Everybody Move.” Soon after, I became hip to the fact that Tactic’s new label, Think 2wice, had plans to release the remix through their label on Norrit aka Iggy Baby’s new record. This morning, we saw a bulletin on myspace from the Tactic guys (who own Think 2wice) that alerted readers to the player on their myspace page featuring some new tracks. And there it was in all it’s glory… the full version of “Move,” Norrit’s remix of Royce Diamond’s “Everybody Move.” On Royce’s original version, he has a line that goes “Never gon’ sound like YOUUUUAAH!!!” And Norrit flipped that line into a pretty ridiculous chorus over his own club beat remix. I am super hype over this song. And I’ve never bought anything from Beatport before, but I will buy this track when it comes out, for sure. Also, be on the lookout for some major DJs coast to coast to be working this track into their mixes.

Here’s what Royce had to say about his song getting the remix treatment: “I was kinda shocked. I thought it was really good and I was surprised to hear my vocals over a (club) beat. I listened to techno as a kid. I called him (Norrit) up and thanked him for doing it.” He went on to say, “(Norrit) has an album of remixes he’s done that his label’s getting ready to put out in the next year and I’m not sure what the format is gonna be like. I don’t know if it’s a party album or track by track.” Overall, Royce seems pretty pumped about the remix.
